The New York State Education Department’s Quality Review Oversight Committee approved on Feb. 8 the NYSSCPA as a sponsoring organization that may administer and oversee mandatory quality reviews in New York State.

QROC Holds First Meeting
The state's Quality Review Oversight Committee (QROC), the Regents-appointed, five-member body that will oversee the state's mandatory quality review review program that goes into effect Jan. 1, 2012, met for the first time in Albany on June 7 to discuss the basic purpose, structure and functions of the committee.

Board of Regents Appoints QROC Members
The New York State Board of Regents appointed four of the five required members of the state’s Quality Review Oversight Committee (QROC), the oversight body of the state’s new mandatory quality review program that goes into effect Jan. 1, 2012.
Today at the NYSSCPA: Peer Review Boot Camp
Following a speech by General George Patton, "Master Sgt." Ray Nowicki, accompanied by his top peer review officers, marched into a classroom on the 19th floor of NYSSCPA headquarters, and addressed his new generation of soldiers in classic drill seargant style:
"I eat bad peer reviewers for breakfast," Nowicki barked.
Moynihan on Peer Review in Accounting Today
The latest issue of Accounting Today (April 20-May 3, 2009) features a front page article on peer review and quotes incoming NYSSPCA president David Moynihan. Peer review is mandated under the accounting reform law signed by Gov. David Paterson on Jan. 27. N.Y. Accountancy Reform Bill Now in Paterson's Hands
It’s been 61 years, but New York is one step closer to accountancy reform now that the State Assembly delivered to Gov. David A. Paterson's desk a bill, A11696, that would make sweeping changes to the state's regulations for the accounting profession, including bringing a larger number of CPAs under the state's regulatory structure and requiring CPAs working in industry to complete continuing professional education courses.
